Breaking the World Electric Speed Record
Presented by Phill O’Dell: Rolls-Royce PLC Test Pilot
The world record for the fastest electric vehicle has been set by ’The Spirit of Innovation’, an electric plane developed by Rolls-Royce in conjunction with Gloucestershire-based firm, Electroflight, and YASA, a Mercedes-Benz owned UK firm.
His talk will take you through the trials and tribulations of being at the forefront of innovation and how the world record was smashed earlier this year.
Phill is currently Director of Flight Operations for R-R. Before he joined R-R he was Officer Commanding the Research and Development Flight of the Fast Jet Test Squadron based at Boscombe Down, Wiltshire, after completing 18 years with the RAF.
Phill has flown a variety of planes during his time in the RAF and at R-R. Being part of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Flight means he has the great privilege of flying Spitfires at air shows and events round the UK.
His speaker expenses will be donated to ‘fly2help’ a charity that allows adults and children experience the freedom and advantages of flight.
