27 July | 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm| £10
An evening with worldwide bestselling author Alexander McCall Smith is an evening of sheer delight. Join him at the Goods Shed in association with the Yellow-Lighted Bookshop as he discusses his latest books with Cotswold Life deputy editor Katie Jarvis.
And there will be plenty for fans of McCall Smith’s to savour. 2017 is a typically prolific year for the author who, in May, received the The National Arts Club of America’s Medal of Honor for Achievements in Literature. Previous recipients include Aleksander Solzhenitsyn, Margaret Atwood, Nadine Gordimer, PD James, Joyce Carol Oates, Martin Amis, Paul Auster and many more.
This year sees publication of a new book in each of his three core series. A Distant View of Everything was the first, a much anticipated new novel in the Isabel Dalhousie series published on 23 March. A new hardback novel in the Scotland Street series, A Time of Love & Tartan is published in August, with a paperback of The Bertie Project (2016 in hardback) out in paperback the same month.
Early in September, a new book in The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, The House of Unexpected Sisters, will be published, again in hardback, with the paperback of Precious and Grace out this Spring (2016 in hardback).
In addition to these books in series, Alexander writes stand-alone books. This year we are anticipating a new collection of short stories as Christmas approaches, while the novel My Italian Bulldozer, which was first published in May 2016 to tremendous critical acclaim will be published in paperback in November.
