Tetbury Community Choir
18 April | 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm| £9
It is twelve months since the choir last performed at The Goods Shed — an evening much enjoyed by the audience and choir alike. It returns to the Shed with special guest soloist, Maria Jagusz, who has worked with many of the leading opera companies in the UK and Europe
Under the direction of our charismatic and talented Musical Director, Richard George, the choir has gained a reputation for giving performances of a very high standard, with the emphasis of the choir being on fun, the pleasure of singing and also creating good music together.
This year’s programme promises an eclectic mix of music from pop, rock, classical, jazz and songs from the musicals which we hope will suit all tastes, and will once again result in a very enjoyable evening for our audience.
The Choir will be singing the following programme:
Total Praise – R. Smallwood
Hallelujah – L.Cohen
Sounds of Silence – P.Simon
Irish Blessing – traditional
Something Inside – L.Siffre
Shalom – traditional
The Sharing – R.George
For the B.O.T.E. – J.Rutter
Shay-Lah – R. George
Seal Lullaby – E. Whitacre
Get Happy – H. Arlen
Both Side Now – J. Mitchell
Wonder of You – B. Knight
Do you Hear the People Sing? – C.M. Schonberg
Special guest Maria Jagusz has worked as a soloist for many of the leading opera companies in the UK and Europe, including the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, Glyndebourne and the English National Opera.
As well as working with some of the world’s leading conductors and coaches, she has sung with Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Carlos Alvarez, Mirella Freni, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, and Lesley Garrett.
Tetbury Community Choir is a very friendly and informal mixed choir for all ages and vocal abilities. The choir was formed in 2011, and since then our membership has increased and we now have sixty members. We welcome on average forty five members to our weekly rehearsals, meeting on Mondays at The Goods Shed Tetbury between 7pm – 9pm.
Our choir is a non-auditioned choir, has an open door policy and welcomes anyone with a desire to enjoy singing in a no-pressure environment with an emphasis on the joy of singing. A maximum number of choir members is not set.
Richard, our Musical Director, is a very experienced musician, teacher and choral director. With the lack of formality and a variable group often in attendance, Richard sometimes varies the pace of rehearsals. Previous musical interpretations rehearsed may need to be revisited in order that all members are up to date with the current repertoire.
If you would like to join (all voices welcome), hear us sing, book us to help raise money for a charity or local event (we do not charge!), please email or call so we can arrange for you to attend a rehearsal, or discuss arrangements. If joining, you do not need to read music, just enjoy singing. If you are interested, please contact us, details are on the contacts page of our website: www.tetburycommunitychoir.weebly.com
