Elvis is a 2022 biographical musical drama film directed by Baz Luhrmann, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner.

The film follows the life of rock and roll icon, singer, and actor Elvis Presley, told from the perspective of his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. It stars Austin Butler in the title role with Tom Hanks as Parker, and Olivia DeJonge, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, Kelvin Harrison Jr., David Wenham, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Luke Bracey.

“Butler commands the screen with a primal raw superstardom that comes across once a generation.”

“I am sure when Oscar nomination time comes, there will be nominations here for Austin Butler and Tom Hanks and the soundtrack.”

“Luhrmann’s tendency to hyperbolize has previously caused fatigue, but in this instance it’s an adequate vehicle to tell the rise and fall story of an extravagant idol.”

“Elvis is a movie that manages to tick all the boxes of a biopic, there is also that hint of uniqueness that makes for a memorable experience altogether.”
