One Day Garden Design Workshop

Spend a day designing your own garden. Come and have fun creating a new scene for your garden.  We do this by giving the space a new lease of life with a planting theme that will last for years of seasonal interest to come.

Just bring your measurements, ideas and pictures with you in order for you to create the garden of your dreams…. no horticultural knowledge needed. Step by step instruction on measuring your own garden will be sent to you prior to the day.

You will end the the day with a plan of what you are going to do in your garden over the next year, in bite size chunks.  Help is at hand every step of the way from an RHS winner at The Chelsea Flower Show.

  1. We start by drawing up your measurements and existing features which you have taken from your garden.
  2. We then move into designing the features you would like to include in your garden with a little inspiration from the tutor.
  3. After lunch we design the planting scheme according to your ability, border aspect, preference and soil type.

Help is at hand all the way. You will end up with a diagram of your garden for you to work from.

The Designer

Joy Riley has been a Garden Designer for 20 yrs. She trained at Pershore Horticultural College under the supervision of Chris Beardshaw & Simon Rose. Joy started life as an Interior Designer, so, combining these two interests has allowed Joy to create gardens that really do become the outside room, with furniture that grows….   Great Fun !  Joy has also taught CAD to Garden Designers at Pershore College and has been CAD consultant to The Wildlife & Wetlands Trust Consulting at Slimbridge in her time.

Joy is an experienced and accomplished garden designer with RHS Medals to her name and has had her garden featured on the local news and in national newspapers.

She says:  “I consider garden designing to be the art of creating a cosy place with a tapestry of everchanging colours.. If the full day workshop is not yet for you, my half day workshops are for people to bring along their photos and soil samples for me to see how we can simply improve their borders.”  Please ask for more details
