Put the 19th February in your diaries because this months “Jazz at the Shed” will be a hot one.

We are delighted to confirm that one of Europes finest young Jazz Trumpeters, Jamie Brownfield will be performing with Hotclub Guitarist Caley Groves and your host Stuart Carter-Smith to showcase some of the UK’s leading lights of world Jazz.

Expect plenty of hot swinging jazz along with beautifully soulful standards from this Trio.

Jamie Brownfield has now been playing professionally now for many years touring the jazz festival & club circuits in the UK & Europe, as well as backing vocalists, TV and session work. In 2012 Jamie was awarded 1st place in the ‘Rising Star’ category of the British Jazz Awards.  Jamie regularly performs at prestigious events and venues, and often for celebrities.

On this special evening we also have Caley Groves on guitar. Caley is in from Australia and is one of the finest gypsy Jazz accompanists/Soloists on the scene today. He has made many notable appearances including performing for Jamie Cullum at his Royal Albert Hall gala event and has played many prestigious Jazz festivals across the world including the highly regarded Montreal Jazz festival with Remi Harris.

Stuart Carter-Smith 

has a well earned reputation as a top class Gypsy Jazz guitarist.

He started playing the guitar when he was 18 years old – rather late for a gypsy guitarist (most of his peers would have been playing fluently by the age of seven!) Although initially Stuart studied and performed the classical guitar, he soon fell in love with the music of Django Reinhardt and his post-classical studies took him to work with some of the finest names in that genre both in the UK and overseas.

Like many of his contemporaries, Stuart is a consummate improviser and master of pin-point rhythm accuracy. Typical of the genre, Stuart is always searching for new musical challenges and he is constantly developing new techniques. He experiments with new rhythms and styles of playing, but these are always delivered with the solid underpinning of his first love: the musical style of Django.

Stuart has played the Goods Shed a couple of times now – as one half of Holder and Smith as well as the trio “One Night in Paris”.  He is also a permanent and integral member of Gypsy Fire.
