In light of the present situation we have moved this concert to Saturday 31st October 2020

We are in the process of contacting everyone who purchased a ticket for the original date to organise a refund

Some people are kindly choosing to donate the cost of their ticket to the Goods Shed to help us survive what is a really difficult time and we are extremely grateful for their support and generosity.

We are determined to weather this storm – but we need your help to do so. As you may know, we are a charity receiving no regular Arts Council funding or subsidy. Our money comes from ticket sales and other events . We have to make sure as many of our seats are filled each performance and on top of that raise additional funds to keep the Shed running and serving our community.

Ninebarrow are a multi-award-winning folk duo, who are impressing audiences across the country with their innovative and captivating take on the folk tradition.

ninebarrow 2019 featured

Described by Mark Radcliffe as sounding like ‘two halves of one voice’, by Seth Lakeman as ‘a fantastic duo’ and by Kate Rusby as ‘absolutely amazing’, Jon Whitley and Jay La Bouchardiere combine breath taking vocal harmonies and melodies, delivering songs that are inspired and rooted in the landscape and history of the British Isles. For the first time, the duo will not only be joined by cellist and long-term collaborator, Lee MacKenzie, but also the extraordinary talent of John Parker on double bass and Evan Carson on  percussion. With brand new songs and stunningly realised arrangements of some old favourites, The Ninebarrow Band promise something absolutely unique.

Tonight they are being joined by Ward and Parker  – John Parker, previously of JCB song fame in Nizlopi, and Cliff Ward, founding member of folk super group, The Willows.

Not only exceptional singers and musicians, Ninebarrow are also equally passionate about the stories behind their songs. An evening with the duo isn’t just an evening of great music-it’s also a night of history, folklore, and storytelling.

The BBC Folk Award nominated duo released their latest album, ‘The Waters and the Wild’ in April 2018 to widespread critical acclaim. It was awarded 5-stars in both The Morning Star and the English Folk Dance & Song Society’s EDS Magazine, and has received airplay on BBC Radios 2,3, 6 Music, Wales and Scotland.

Folk luminary, Mike Harding, has hailed it as ‘absolutely monumental’. It also reached no.2 in the Amazon.co.uk Folk Chart.

This will be a night to remember

‘Ward and Parker’ are John Parker, previously of JCB song fame in Nizlopi, and Cliff Ward, founding member of folk super group, The Willows.  The combination of JP’s beautiful, soaring double bass and beatboxing style accompanying Ward’s songs and guitar playing is the perfect mix.

“A fantastic duo with huge potential that are really extending the boundaries of folk; a must watch act!”
