Come and join us for a jolly night of Sea Shanties led by Kate Raw. Lyrics are provided and the tunes are easy to pick up (there is no need to read music). So grab a drink, and be prepared to join in with a mix of traditional and contemporary shanties.
Also on offer: Freshly made sourdough pizzas from Pom A’dore Westonbirt will be available to order on the night.
Weather permitting this event will take place outside – please bring your own rugs and cushions to sit on
Minimum age 12 years
Where did it start?
Historically sailing crews would use shanties to help them while working.
Singing together to the same rhythm would help crews stay synchronised for tasks like hoisting sails and pulling in fishing lines, when everyone needed to be pushing or pulling together at the same time .
This is an open air performance and will take place using the Loading Bay adjacent to The Goods Shed. Please bring your own blankets and cushions to sit on.
In the event of inclement weather we will move into the Main Hall
