This workshop offers a fun and practical approach to learning about the techniques and tools used to carve stone.

Suitable for beginners who need to learn the basics as well as for more experienced sculptors who simply want to learn something new from experienced craftsmen.

Different sizes of soft limestone will be provided to suit your individual designs that you can then take away with you at the end of the course.
The cost of the course also includes a hearty lunch each day and refreshments.

About the tutors

Experts in their field, Pat Way and Will Whitmore have many years of stone carving experience between them.

Will has just returned from his first year at Barcelona Academy of Art. Patrick was awarded the Festival award at Bristol festival of Stone in 2013. Lifelong friends, they both have fine art backgrounds and completed stone-masonry apprenticeships in Bath Spa.

Since training, they have gone on to work throughout the country on beautiful historic buildings, participated in sculpture symposiums and exhibitions, teaching workshops and working on many carving projects combining their sculpture and stone-masonry skills.

You are welcome to bring an idea which we can help you to make or we will work with you to create your design for a sculpture, relief carving or piece of lettering.

Reference material will also be at hand to further inspire your ideas.

All tools and protective wear provided – just bring an apron and toe-protecting boots.

If you have any questions, please email office@shed-arts.co.uk.
