Winner of the Grand Prix at the 4th International “Triomphe de l’Art” competition in Brussels, Belgium, The Karski Quartet is a multi-national ensemble of artists from Poland and Belgium, conquering the world with their music and their noble mission. Rapidly gaining recognition on the International music scene for its passionate interpretations of works ranging from Haydn to 21st century repertoire. They will be joined by cellist David Waterman formerly of the internationally renowned Endellion String Quartet

Tonight, Charles Owen will play a programme by four masterly Romantic composers all of whom took piano music to new heights of expression. Robert Schumann’s mercurial imagination fills every bar of his early piano music no more so than in the energetic Carnaval. Liszt & Chopin revolutionised the way pianists approach their instrument by writing music of immense poetry, virtuosity and originality. The closing work is Prelude, Chorale et Fugue by Cesar Franck.

The Rautio Piano Trio has emerged as one of today’s finest chamber ensembles and tonight they are joined by special guests Michele Bruil and Jan Zahourek playing Beethovens ‘Pastoral’ Symphony No.6 in F major Op.68 (Transcribed for quintet by Jan Rautio) and Schuberts ‘Trout’ Quintet A major D.667
