Railway Carriage now sitting on Platform 9 3/4 behind the Goods Shed

What a day  – people stood in absolute amazement as a seventy foot bright blue Train Carriage slowly trundled its way through the Town and down to the Good Shed. Oh so very carefully was it gradually manoeuvred into position and we should like to say a big big thank you to everyone who helped on the day: the Drivers and Expert team who brought it all the way from Leicestershire, the Stewards and Volunteers not to forget the lovely Ladies in the Cafe ensuring all the workers were looked after.

And now the fun really begins!

Will Cook, Graham Cleaver and the rest of the Team are already hard at work restoring the Carriage to its former glory and you are invited to come and join them. We be delighted to see you whether you can offer specialist knowledge and expertise or if you simply want to come along to hold a ladder or paintbrush you will certainly receive a very warm welcome.

The total estimated cost to transport, install and restore this magnificent carriage is going to be around £15,000 and we are launching an appeal to help us raise the monies required.  We have set up a special scheme corresponding to GWR engine classes:  Star = £100, Castle = £250 and King = £500,  and those whose donate by 31st January 2018 will have their name (or perhaps that of  a loved one) included on a Donors Board in the Carriage.

But whatever you can do to help – you know we will be truly grateful. Thank you.  Please contact the Office on 01666 505496
