Carolyn Sampson and Joseph Middleton bring you Elysium – Songs of the Spirit and the Soul<\/i><\/h3>\n

Franz Peter Schubert was an Austrian composer of the late Classical and early Romantic eras.<\/p>\n

Despite his short lifetime (1797 \u2013 1828) Schubert left behind a vast oeuvre, including more than 600 secular vocal works, seven complete symphonies, sacred music, operas, incidental music and a large body of piano and chamber music. His major works include the Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667, the Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759, the \u201dGreat\u201d Symphony No. 9 in C major, D. 944, the String Quintet, the three last piano sonatas, the opera Fierrabras, the incidental music to the play Rosamunde, and the song cycles Die sch\u00f6ne M\u00fcllerin and Winterreise.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Equally at home on the concert and opera stages, Carolyn Sampson<\/strong> has enjoyed notable successes in the UK as well as throughout Europe and the US.<\/p>\n

A consummate recitalist, Carolyn Sampson appears regularly at the Wigmore Hall where she was a \u201cfeatured artist\u201d in the 14\/15 season. She has given recitals at the Oxford and Leeds Lieder, Saintes and Aldeburgh Festivals as well as at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Barcelona, Freiburg, Oper Frankfurt, Vienna Konzerthaus, and recently her debut recital tour of Japan.<\/p>\n

Carolyn\u2019s numerous concert engagements in the UK have included regular appearances at the BBC Proms, and with orchestras including Britten Sinfonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, English Concert, Hall\u00e9, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Sixteen, and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
