Community Environment Day – The World Waits?

We will have stalls offering help and advice between 11am and 4pm.  There will be ideas and suggestions covering  green energy, how to save money in the home and where you can go to for additional help

Our exhibitors cover everything from wildlife to e-bikes. They include Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, Greening Tetbury and the Cotswold Energy Group an exhibition of art on a climate theme from pupils at Sir William Romneys.

Cotswold District Council

CDC is committed to making its activities net-zero carbon as soon as possible, aiming for an 100% reduction compared to 1990 by 2045. As well as setting up a Climate Change Panel, involving councillors, residents, young citizens, climate science and solutions experts, businesses and others relevant parties, CDC also puts ecological issues at the heart of its climate change actions.

Cotswold Energy Group

Stonehouse-based Cotswold Energy Group was started by three friends who wanted to do things differently. Now employing 35-plus people in engineering, management and support roles, the company has become a leading renewable heating installer, with happy customers throughout England and Wales.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust has a simple mission — to value nature. Its ambition is to preserve, recreate and reconnect Gloucestershire’s wild places. The Trust wants everyone in Gloucestershire to value, enjoy and share wildlife in the county and believe strongly that nature matters, not only in its own right, but for the huge benefits it brings to the people of Gloucestershire.

Greening Tetbury

Greening Tetbury is a community based group of people taking action in response to the climate crisis. The group first met in August 2019 and is currently looking at what we can do in the areas of energy use, using more food from the local area, sustainable journeys, minimising our plastic use and engaging with local people and like-minded organisations.

Hogwarts – Tetbury’s very own Hedgehog Hospital

Mary Hinton and other volunteers run the Hogwarts hedgehog hospital, in Southfield, Tetbury, looking after injured hedgehogs.  The team nurture the hedgehogs back to health, tending wounds, feeding and mucking them out. For more information on protecting hedgehogs, visit www.helpahedgehog.org.

Royal Agricultural University

RAU at Cirencester has been at the forefront of agricultural education and a key contributor to the land-based sector for 175 years. Among its projects is Wild Campus Cirencester, which is developing wildlife habitats across Cirencester’s education quarter to connect wildlife populations, benefit protected species and invest in community, environment, wellbeing and prosperity. Severn Wye Energy’s Warm and Well

The Warm and Well team has been providing free local home energy advice since 2001, their advice line covers Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. The scheme has also been involved in the installation of over 60,000 energy efficiency measures.

Sir William Romney’s School art exhibition

Paintings and artworks created by SWR pupils on the theme of working together to mitigate the impact of climate change and rebuild ecological sustainability and resilience.

Wild Carrot ebikes

Wild Carrot, based at Chavenage House, don’t just create sustainable, guilt-free fun adventures that promote healthy living and encourage time out to re-discover the joy of nature. They also run guided cycle tours and have a cycle hire centre at the Cotswold Water Park Gateway Centre, offering a great way to try out the benefits of e-biking while exploring the countryside!

Yellow Lighted Bookshop

The Yellow-Lighted Bookshops in Tetbury and Nailsworth are must-visit destinations for book lovers everywhere. Owner Hereward Corbett runs them as ethically and sustainably as possible, and visitors can always count on finding a wide range of titles full of green ideas.

Young Gloucestershire

If you are unfamiliar with Tetbury follow the signs from the town centre to the free long stay car park or put GL8 8EY into your satnav, which will bring you to the Royal Oak pub. The event and the car park are through the open gateway next to the pub
