Certificate 12A.  Running time: 1hr 52min.  Documentary, Biography, Drama, War. Doors open at 7pm

Tolkien

explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the fellowship apart. All these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

Biographical drama film directed by Dome Karukoski and written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford covering the early life of English professor J. R. R. Tolkien , author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, as well as notable academic works.

A  12 and 12A certificate means… “Films classified 12/12A contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Adults planning to take a child under 12 to view a 12A film should consider whether the film is suitable for that child. To help them decide, we recommend that they check the BBFCinsight for that film in advance” – British Board of Film Classification

We recently had a hearing loop installed at The Shed for the benefit of all who might appreciate a little help hearing the audio systems. If you would like to reserve one – you can do so either when booking your tickets on line or by calling the office on 01666 505496.

Films at the Goods Shed are projected on to a six-metre (19 feet 8 inches) wide screen, with sound provided by a multipoint Dolby system. The 180 seats are purpose-made for auditorium use and are tiered, giving everyone a comfortable and unobstructed view of the screen.

We provide a bar at most screenings, offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Doors open 30 minutes before each screening.

You can buy tickets in advance using the form below, or on the door up to 30 minutes before screening, subject to availability. There is no fee for booking online.

At this stage, it isn’t possible to reserve specific seats. If you have a favourite spot, it’s best to arrive early, get a drink, and settle in to enjoy the movie!
