From the old tangos of the slums of Buenos Aires, via the golden age of elegant salons and the sophisticated nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla, to the contemporary scene and beyond. Tango Siempre celebrate 25 years pursuing their passion for tango with this selection of the most stunning, moving and exciting works from tango’s past, present and future.
The archetypal music of Buenes Aires is as much for listening as for dancing
You can enjoy tonight’s performance as a concert or if you wish you can take to the dance floor!
The original format of Tango Siempre performs in many of our dance shows including the national tours of Tangomotion and Tango Encounters as well as appearing on BBC Strictly, ITV Surprise Surprise and other TV and Radio programmes.
Pictured are pianist Jonathan Taylor, violinist Ros Stephen and bandoneonist Julian Rowlands – three of the founding members of Tango Siempre – with double bassist Rory Dempsey.
Their repertoire spans the whole range of Argentinian tango music from the Guardia Vieja via the Golden Age to the Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla and the contemporary scene. All music is performed in their own arrangements and transcriptions, as well as original music by members of the ensemble.
