Richard George is a local musician of enviable experience; equally at home as a composer, teacher, and performer.
Born in a Station House, Richard was a ‘railway child’ until the age of 12 – his father working as a railwayman for 29 years. With such direct connections to the world of trains, Richard has composed a collection of ten pieces for piano which are inspired by railway culture, history, humour and emotion. The sheer energy and rhythmic impetus of the subject matter drives through in this – the ‘launch’ performance of Richard’s new album, ‘Train Stories’.
Special guest Maria Jagusz has worked as a soloist for many of the leading opera companies in the UK and Europe, including the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, Glyndebourne and the English National Opera. As well as working with some of the world’s leading conductors and coaches, she has sung with Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Carlos Alvarez, Mirella Freni, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, and Lesley Garrett.
