Full of mystery, nods to film noir and a broad streak of quirky comedy, ‘The Munch Mission’ is a fiendishly sneaky playable art heist adventure set in the world of international art galleries. Featuring quirky, affable Agents Dali & Kahlo from the Company of International Artists, audience members are enrolled as newly recruited agents to this top-secret global agency which solves artistic mysteries. The audience accompany Dali & Kahlo in their mission to retrieve world famous artwork stolen from Oslo National Museum, visiting Japan, the Netherlands, Morocco, and England along the way.

At different points throughout the show the audience are asked to vote for different narrative outcomes. This impacts on which characters Dali & Kahlo interview and which countries they visit. Despite taking a different route each show, the outcome will always be the same – the ‘culprit’ determined, and mystery wrapped up. There are specific improvised moments scattered throughout the show where actors invite the audience to offer suggestions which the actors will honour. This validates children’s ideas and contributions which empowers them to explore storytelling outside of the context of a theatre space. The audience are in-role as newly recruited agents of the CIA. To bolster this role, agents are issued a Covid-safe kit on arrival to utilise during the show to help them solve the mystery of the missing Munch.
