Melissa Harrison – All Among the Barley
‘The autumn of that year was the most beautiful I can remember…’
Melissa is one of our foremost novelists and nature writers. Her latest book, described as ‘astonishingly good’ is set in Suffolk in the 1930s, detailing the lives of the farmers and villagers through the eyes of 14 year old Edie and her family, and how their community is evolving and changing.
‘All Among the Barley ‘is a deeply atmospheric work, steeped in the rhythms and traditions of the English countryside and the rhythms and traditions of its literature’, and is one of the books discussed by Professor Eaglestone in Sunday morning’s Big Book Seminar.
The Big Book Weekend is brought to the Goods Shed by the Yellow Lighted Book Shop and runs from Friday 3rd May through to Monday 6th May. The full programme is available here: https://www.yellow-lightedbookshop.co.uk/index.html
