Simon Packard’s collection of eight mixed media works on paper, titled ‘Immunity’, was conceived for the Goods Shed. Its original narrative arose from a visit in January to Naples, Italy.
Over the past year the artist has returned to large scale drawing , often producing work specific to a location , such as in the recent Dark Beyond The Blue drawing for Ruskin Mill, Nailsworth.
A greater muscular materialistic approach has become the norm, working with materials ranging from graphite paste to lithographic printing inks mixed into washes. All works are on Fabriano paper, 1500m x 2500m.
Further details of the sketches , photographs from Italy appertaining to this project, and studio photography of the development of this set of drawings, will be revealed at a Artist Talk on a date to be announced.
Free entry. The exhibition is open from 11am to 4pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout July.
