Tetbury Community Choir in Concert with Soloist Allysia Waite

The Choir

Tetbury Community Choir is a very friendly and informal mixed choir for all ages and vocal abilities. The choir was formed in 2011, and since then our membership has increased and we now have sixty members. We welcome on average forty-five members to our weekly rehearsals, meeting on Mondays at Christ Church Tetbury.

Our choir is a non-auditioned choir, has an open door policy and welcomes anyone with a desire to enjoy singing in a no-pressure environment with an emphasis on the joy of singing. A maximum number of choir members is not set.

If you would like to join (all voices welcome), hear us sing, book us to help raise money for a charity or local event (we do not charge!), please email or call so we can arrange for you to attend a rehearsal, or discuss arrangements. If joining, you do not need to read music, just enjoy singing. If you are interested, please contact us, details are on the contacts page of our website: https://www.tetburycommunitychoir.co.uk

Allysia Waite, Coloratura Soprano

Allysia Waite is 16 years old and likes to be called Lissy.  She began formal singing lessons 5 years ago, and achieved Grade 8 last year. She has been a member of Gloucestershire Youth Choir for 3 years, performing at Cheltenham Town Hall, Tewkesbury Abbey, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. She has also sung in concert with Italian Tenor Luca Ercoles, and with Soprano Patricia Hammond. Lissy is currently studying A-levels at Stroud High School.

She loves to sing light classical music and musical theatre, but has developed a love for watching and singing opera. She is an aspiring performer, and one day hopes to sing the role of Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme.

Richard George, our current Musical Director, is leaving the choir following this, his last concert with us at The Goods Shed Tetbury.  Over the last three years Richard has developed the choir to its present high standard, increased membership and leaves us with a good base for a new Musical Director to build on. So a big “Thank You” goes to him.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Nicola Atwell as our new Musical Director.  Nicola is Director of Music and Performing Arts at Westonbirt School and we were struck by her dynamism, lively personality and her wish to augment her current role at the school by working with and directing a local community choir.  Nicola will join us on the 29th April 2019
