The Rautio Piano Trio is an award-winning ensemble, known for their innovative and captivating performances. Alongside the cornerstones of the repertoire, the Trio presents imaginative programmes incorporating rarely-performed historic works.
The Trio has released two critically acclaimed discs for Resonus Classics. Their début disc features Mozart piano trios recorded on a fortepiano belonging to the late Christopher Hogwood. It was hailed by the Observer as ‘an impressive achievement’ and received multiple five-star reviews. The Trio’s latest release, described as ‘elegantly effervescent’ (Gramophone, 2018) includes the world premiere recording of Ferdinand Hiller’s Trio No. 6 in C minor alongside Beethoven and Schubert.

The Trio has performed at the Wigmore Hall, South Bank, Bridgewater Hall, St George’s Bristol on BBC Radio 3, throughout the UK and in France, Austria, Germany and Israel. Highlights include performances at the London Bach Society, Hambacher Musikfest in Germany, SOUND contemporary music festival in Scotland, English Haydn Festival, Pablo Casals Festival in France and at the Haydn-Saal in Vienna. At Kings Place, London, they presented ‘Approaching the Iron Curtain’, a concert celebrating Shostakovich’s life and music on the 40th anniversary of his death. They return to Kings Place in 2019 and will be joined by violist Robin Ashwell (Sacconi Quartet).
