Big Book Weekend
Rachel Hazell – Bound: a life in Books
An evening of conversation with Rachel Hazell, celebrating twenty years of making books and taking people on creative journeys. From Antarctica to Iona, two-metre-high paper sculptures to tiny limited editions, join us for a guided tour of a life in books. A small book may also be made!
As teacher, author and traveller, books, words and the power of imagination have always been central to Rachel’s life. Home is the capital city of Edinburgh and the small Hebridean island of Iona. Workshops around the world have included ships in Antarctica, bespoke one-to-one courses, corporate sessions and book festivals. Rachel read English Literature at Edinburgh University, trained in Bookbinding at the London College of Printing and completed Masters degrees in Book Art at Camberwell College of Art, and Printmaking at Edinburgh College of Art.
Her focus is teaching, whilst showing at select exhibitions and undertaking special commissions. Rachel believes that everyone has a book inside them, and loves sharing the satisfying experience of creating unique artwork, in the most inspiring places.
The Big Book Weekend is brought to the Goods Shed by the Yellow Lighted Book Shop and runs from Friday 3rd May through to Monday 6th May. The full programme is available here: https://www.yellow-lightedbookshop.co.uk/index.html
