Big Book Weekend
Sophie Ratcliffe – The Lost Properties of Love
Sophie has written about ideas of emotion, the history of how we feel, and how books shape feelings. Her latest book is about trains and train journeys (so we had to invite her to the Goods Shed), but not as we know them.
After her father died when she was 13 years old, she went off the rails, and this ‘beautifully disorganised book’ is about how her loss affected her. Part memoir and part-imagined history, Sophie looks at her life and how fiction helped get her through, via Anna Karenina, the Northern Line and Anthony Trollope.
The Big Book Weekend is brought to the Goods Shed by the Yellow Lighted Book Shop and runs from Friday 3rd May through to Monday 6th May. The full programme is available here: https://www.yellow-lightedbookshop.co.uk/index.html
