Big Book Seminar: Professor Dave Cliff – The Myth of Artificial Intelligence
Over the course of the weekend, three top academics will be introducing some of their current work to a general audience, or those thinking of studying at university.
Artificial Intelligence promises everything, but tends to deliver rather less. From Google Glasses to driverless cars, Professor Cliff will be discussing why we place so much store in the ability of computing to improve our lives, and why, maybe, that isn’t such a good idea.
Professor Cliff built his reputation in robotics and moved to MIT, before spending several years working on financial algorithms in the City of London. He now leads Bristol University’s Computer Science Department.
The Big Book Weekend is brought to the Goods Shed by the Yellow Lighted Book Shop and runs from Friday 3rd May through to Monday 6th May. The full programme is available here: https://www.yellow-lightedbookshop.co.uk/index.html
