November’s ‘WAGS’ – Writers at the Goods Shed – session brings Angela France to the railway carriage behind the Goods Shed.
France’s multi-media presentation of ‘The Hill’ is a remarkable sequence of poems that leads us up the winding footpaths of Leckhampton Hill near Cheltenham.
In it, she masterfully captures the sense of place by weaving the entrancing voices of the hill, its walkers and inhabitants, into the fabric of these formally-adventurous poems, which range from prose to ‘anglish’, richly worded and delighting in their shapes and sounds.
Her website is angelafrance.co.uk
WAGS features published writers from various genres who, for the first half of the evening, will present, read and talk about their work.
Then, after a break for refreshments, there is an ‘open mic’ session in which the floor is open to any writers in the audience who may like to share and read a piece of their own work – just sign up to share as you come in.
Doors open at 6.30pm. Reading begins at 7.00pm.
